Fred W. Symmes Chapel "Pretty Place"
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills... Psalm 121:1
The Fred W. Symmes Chapel was constructed in 1941 and is part of the Greenville YMCA camp in South Carolina. This open-air sanctuary, also known as "Pretty Place," is the camp's spiritual center. At dawn, the meandering light slowly begins pouring in over rolling hills until finally the sun breaks the horizon, bringing a gentle breeze with each stretching ray. A new day is beginning, and the night is over. The morning light brings a new hope, and with that hope comes a reminder of how great God's faithfulness is, his never-ending steadfast love, and his endless mercies. (Lamentations 3:21-23) How wonderful it is to be able to hold onto the promises of God!
